Located in the heart of the University of Maryland campus, the Jones-Hill House is the Terrapin football team’s bold new home for athletic performance and football operations. The building boasts over 17,000 sq ft of BENCHMARK Designwall 2000 and Designwall 4000 panels, designed by CannonDesign and executed by Gilbane Building Company and Innovative Building Solutions.
“This was just one of those projects you’ll truly always remember.”
- Scott Whitehead, AIA, Vice President at CannonDesign
The vision of the architects was for the Jones-Hill House to be an iconic building that made a statement for the Division 1 and Big 10 football team but would stay true to the historic nature of the original Cole Field House from which it was built. Kingspan’s BENCHMARK Designwall panels were recognized for their aesthetic nature and design appeal that allowed for creative flexibility throughout the project. The product line offers a variety of finish and color options, trimless ends, longitudinal and traverse bends, and folded corners.
BENCHMARK Designwall panels provide high thermal performance with an R-value of 14-21. Being able to enclose the building quickly with these single-component panels was key to the project to avoid the elements and cut down labor costs by limiting the number of trades needed on site over the 6-year construction period.
